Apprenticeships are a way of continuing learning whilst working and gaining National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs), which are recognised and valued nationally by employers. You’ll be working for an employer and getting paid from day one. Working as an apprentice you will:
- Earn real wages
- Gain new qualifications
- Gain new knowledge and key skills
The basic framework consists of NVQs, Key Skills and Technical Certificates in Level 2 or 3.
NVQs
As an apprentice you will work for an employer whilst studying for a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). These nationally recognised qualifications have been developed by leading businesses and are designed by industry. They demonstrate that you have learned the skills needed in the workplace.
Key Skills/Functional skills
More general skills help you to become a valued and respected worker and will also help you cope with the bureaucracy found throughout adult life. Employers increasingly look for key skills/functional skills when taking on new staff. Communication, IT, Problem Solving, Application of Numbers and Personal Skills all form part of the Key Skills required under the Apprenticeship programme.
Technical Certificates
You will also study for a Technical Certificate which will give you further knowledge and understanding of your
job. Technical Certificates are qualifications appropriate to the occupational area chosen. They are delivered via
a taught element (off-the job training) to demonstrate the occupational knowledge of a young person.
We offer a range of Apprenticeships in many different subject areas. Main areas include: Business Administration, Construction, Customer Services, Engineering, Hair, Horticulture, IT Users and Motor Vehicle. For more information please contact Omar on 01983 535202.
