How to Apply
Learners:
If you see a vacancy online on the National Apprenticeship Service:
Whenever we have employment and training vacancies for Apprenticeships we post this information on the National Apprenticeship Service website which can be accessed at www.apprenticeships.org.uk. You are able to apply for these vacancies 24 hours a day and submit your application online which we will then log.
Applications are then sent to the employer to review who will then choose a shortlist of candidates to interview.
If your application is successful then you will be invited to attend a job interview and if successful could become the apprentice.
If there are no vacancies on the National Apprenticeship Service but you would like to gain an apprenticeship:
If there are no current vacancies then you can still complete an application form for an apprenticeship and we will notify you once a vacancy is available and tell you how to apply. Many employers like apprentices to have some knowledge of their industry so in the meantime you may way want to consider starting a full or part time course to give you the knowledge you may need to start a career in your chosen industry.
Depending on your circumstances we may be able to help you access government funding for these courses so it is always recommended that you contact the Island Training Apprenticeship department on 01983 550609 to see if there is any help available.
Remember, you can always approach local employers to see whether they would be willing to help you become an apprentice. Employers are often looking for staff throughout the year so you should consider sending them your CV’s, following up with a phone call and looking within the situations vacant section of the local media.
