The primary objective of the Aeronautical Engineering NVQ is to contribute to the development of a skilled workforce as a whole. This can be done where possible by integrating NVQ’s in to the organisation’s model. These NVQ’s are suitable for those seeking recognition of their competence in one or more of a wide variety of activities and for maximum flexibility to meet the needs of semi-skilled and skilled workers engaged in aeronautical engineering.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants can be considered for The Aeronautical Engineering NVQ if they have GCSE’s grade E or above or are occupationally competent a level 2 and have a record of good attendance and reports. It is essential to be working in the industry in a job role that can provide the range of tasks required to complete the level 2 and have the support of your employer. You must have the ability and will to succeed, self-motivation and enthusiasm, be hard working and able to work as part of a team. All applicants will be required to attend an interview and undertake an initial assessment to assess numeracy and literacy skills.

NVQs are based on what a person needs to be able to do and know to be competent in the workplace.

• Complying with statutory regulations and organizational requirements
• Using and interoperating engineering drawings and documents
• Working Effectively and efficiently in engineering
• Reinstating the work area on completion of aircraft engineering activities
HOW WILL I LEARN?
• Within the programme, students receive full support in their skill development and acquisition of competence. Specialist learning support is available. Students are assessed through practical observation of skills, questioning and portfolio evidence.
• An assessor will visit you in your workplace to discuss with both you and your employer your progress and monitor the NVQ targets that you are working towards.

This course requires an organisational approach to Business improvement. Individuals are trained to involve themselves, through effective team working in continuous improvement techniques. This qualification can be applied in any working environment from the shop floor to the office.

Our BIT course explores the concept of continuous improvement. It demonstrates how eliminating waste, reducing variation and preventing defects through managing quality and process flows, can dramatically improve business performance. It covers the most up-to-date management thinking – from the Japanese 5S (work place organisation) method to the Kaizen (continuous improvement) approach – in a manner that is accessible and relevant to your employees.
The course acknowledges that there’s always room for improvement at work – be it major adjustments or small changes – and provides a range of new tools to help your employees identify what needs improving and how to improve it.

Business Improvement Techniques
INTRODUCTION
The Business Improvement Techniques NVQ programme provides industry standard National Vocational Qualifications centred on the proven tools and techniques of lean manufacturing based on the Toyota Production System (process pathway) and Six Sigma (Quality pathway). It is designed to support continuous improvement by promoting effective team working and developing lean skills across the wider workforce. Businesses also need to continually seek to improve themselves to be able to satisfy changing customer needs and be in the best possible position to face their competitors. The techniques lead to sustainability by training all staff and making improvements to quality, cost and delivery.
The BIT NVQ is delivered by high achieving manufacturing practitioners and is a down-to-earth, hands-on programme designed for supervisors, team leaders and operators in companies that have lean systems in place but are looking to engage the wider workforce in continuous improvement activities. It teaches them how to identify and eliminate waste, create flow and improve quality leading to greater efficiency and increased profitability.

A career in Childcare covers a diverse range of job roles and occupational areas working in children’s environments including early years and social care.
The L2 Certificate has been developed for people wanting to work in the children and young people’s workforce. It’s ideal for learners who are just starting out in their career, and builds the knowledge required for working with young people from birth to 19 years.
Entry requirements:
There are no formal entry requirements, but applicants must be at least 16 years of age, undertake Numeracy and Literacy assessments and will be be interviewed to ascertain suitability.
Learners will need to be working, volunteering or on practical placement as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations.
Duration:
Approximately 1 year
Qualification Structure:
A minimum of 35 credit values are required to achieve the qualification.
31 credits come from 13 mandatory units, and then a minimum of 4 credits must be achieved from optional units.

Awarding Body City & Guilds
The new Diploma is now the recognised qualification in care. It is appropriate for staff who work in any area of health and social care delivering care to adult clients. Candidates must be well motivated to learn independently but are fully supported throughout the Diploma by a qualified Assessor.
Who is the course for?
This programme of study is suitable for staff who are new entrants to the health and care sector and who are looking for an initial qualification that is relevant to all areas within the care sector.
It is also appropriate for candidates who have some experience of working in the health and care sector and want a qualification that recognises good standards of practice and competence.
In order to complete the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2, candidates must be working in a care setting supporting or delivering care to clients. This may be in a residential or nursing home, in the community or in any care related setting where you are employed full, part time or voluntarily.
There are no formal entry requirements, but you will be assessed on your levels of literacy and numeracy and offered additional support if it is felt that this will enable you to complete the qualification successfully.
What will you learn?
The Level 2 Diploma covers the skills and knowledge needed to care for others in a wide range of health or social care settings.
Students will be required to study 9 mandatory units all based in a health and social setting. These comprise Communication; Personal Development; Equality and Inclusion and Duty of Care. Units on the Principles of Safeguarding, Role of the Health and Social Care Worker, Person Centred Approaches, Handling Information and Health and Safety are also included within the mandatory units.
A series of specialist units is also studied. Examples of these include Dementia Awareness; The Principles of Infection Prevention and Control and Principles of Supporting an Individual to Maintain Personal Hygiene.
Finally students will study a selection of competence units. Examples of these include Understand & Implement a Person Centred Approach to the Care & Support of Individuals with Dementia; Enable Interaction & Communication with Individuals with Dementia; Provide Support for Mobility; Support Care Plan Activities; Support Individuals to Eat & Drink; Support Individuals to Meet Personal Care Needs and Emergency First Aid Skills.
How will you learn?
You will be expected to work at your own pace under the guidance of your Assessor. It is important that you set yourself targets to make sure that you progress steadily through the Diploma.
Your Assessor will support you by assessing your practice in the workplace. Your portfolio of evidence is fully assessed to ensure that you have covered all the units to a satisfactory standard to complete the qualification. Upon completion you will receive a certificate from City and Guilds showing all the units achieved.
How do I study?
Enrolment takes place at the College over a 3 hour session when your levels of literacy and numeracy are checked in order that you can be fully supported to achieve the qualification. You will also meet other candidates and a range of Assessors from the Care Department.
A series of workshops to provide the underpinning knowledge for the specialist units will be delivered either onsite at your workplace, at the College or at a local centre near your place of work. These workshops will be tailored to meet your needs by the use of activities with other candidates such as discussions and group work. Your Assessor will also provide guidance on putting your work together in a portfolio for assessment.
How long will it take?
It is expected that you will complete the Level 2 Diploma in 12 months or less.
