NVQ
An NVQ training programme can be considered an extension to or an alternative for in-house training. The main difference is that the outcome is a recognised qualification in ‘practical competence and related thinking’ to national standards.
NVQ Certificate in Management Level 3
If you manage or supervise a team as part of your role, the NVQ Certificate in Management is a highly flexible, nationally recognised qualification that helps you to become more effective in your job and to demonstrate your skills and experience to current or future employers.
The course is ideal for first line managers who are able to demonstrate a range of responsibilities. A first-line manager may allocate work to team members/colleagues or contractors, achieving specific results, manage financial and physical resources and have some degree of decision making.
Entry requirements
There are no formal requirements although you must be in a role where you manage a team. It is also highly recommended that you possess a level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification due to the demands of the course. If you do not possess level 2 literacy and numeracy you will be offered the chance to achieve these qualifications.
What will the interview involve?
Your employer will be contacted to support your application. The interview will include an explanation of what will be required on the course and the requirements of the learner.
What will I learn?
The NVQ Certificate is based on what a person needs to be able to do and know to be competent in the workplace. You will take three mandatory units and then choose from a diverse range of optional units to complete the qualification. The optional units can be tailored to your particular learning needs or to meet organisational requirements whilst meeting a minimum credit requirement of 11 credits (please ask for more information on credits)

How will I learn?
An assessor will visit you in your workplace to discuss with both you and your employer your progress, learning and monitor agreed targets. Depending on your current skills, you may be asked to undertake further research into a subject and other specific activities to enable you to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding of management techniques. This qualification is assessment using evidence from the workplace, and could include observation, professional discussion, questioning/interviewing, physical products of work or other appropriate methods.

The NVQ Certificate in Team Leading has been designed for team leaders who have some personal autonomy and responsibility, and who collaborate with others to deliver work. The NVQ gives learners the opportunity to develop core competences needed by today’s leaders of teams. This is a highly flexible, nationally recognised qualification that helps you to become more effective in your job and to demonstrate your skills to current or future employers.

You should ideally already possess a level 2 literacy and numeracy qualification due to the demands of this course; however, you will be given the opportunity to gain these qualifications if you do not already possess them.

Performing Engineering Operations Level 3 (NVQ Only )
A grounding in basic skills, knowledge and understanding of common engineering practices, along with a grasp of safe working practices, are essential for anyone seeking to build a career on engineering. Performing Engineering Operations NVQ’s provide the ideal foundation for entrants into a wide range of occupations. They are based on national occupational standards, developed to meet the needs of the engineering industry now and into the future. These qualifications cover the fundamentals common to all engineering practices, including health and safety requirements and communicating engineering information, whilst offering extensive choice and flexibility for candidates to demonstrate competence in one or more broad variety of engineering activities.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must hold an NVQ Level 2 in PEO or are occupationally compenetent to complete to carry out work to a level 3 standard. Applicants should also have a record of good attendance and reports. It is essential to be working in the industry within a role that can provide the range of tasks required to complete the level 3. You must have the ability and the will to succeed, self-motivation and enthusiasm, be hard working and able to work as part of a team. ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Candidates normally progress to this award by means of their organizational experience, roles and responsibilities. This qualification is often taken by new entry chefs/cooks wha are working towards their first full level 2.

You will be expected to work through the learning materials at your own pace. It is important to set yourself targets to make sure that you progress steadily through the award. Your assessor will support you by checking your progress with the learning materials and assessing your practice in the workplace. You will have a portfolio of evidence which includes records of your observations, activities and supporting materials.

QCF – NVQ Dipolma in Management – Level 5
The NVQ Diploma in Management has been specifically designed for middle managers with a wide span of control and accountability for performance, in particular those with responsibility for determining resource allocation and operational methods in their department or organisation
